Another Year Gone...
1st January 2010
It has been a busy year at Aberdeen Universities' Royal Naval Unit and 2010 looks to be just as busy and fun filled!
To sum up some key points from 2009:
- The Annual Trafalgar Night Dinner was a great success - a great night was had by all!
- d
- Burns Night gave us all the chance to celebrate the rich heritage of Scotland and destress after the exams in January!
- HMS Archer deployed to the Caledonian Canal and the West Coast of Scotland for her Easter Deployment in company with HMS Smiter (Glasgow & Strathclyde).
- The unit recieved a new Coxsw
ain as CPO Alexander headed off to take up a new posting elsewhere!
- The unit said goodbye to several of its fourth year students as they graduated university and prepared to embark on their last ever summer deployment onboard the mighty Archer!
- Summer Deployment came round fast and the ship deployed down the East Coast of the United Kingdom before heading over to the Netherlands and Belgium before coming back. A truely eventful eight weeks !
- HMS Archer and Aberdeen Universities' Royal Naval Unit: Under New Management. November 2009 saw Lieutenant Commander Jamies Wells depart the unit for the last time, handing over the reigns to Lieutenant Michael Hutchinson.
- The year ended with a Christmas party at the unit where the theme was 'Dress to Kill' - resulting in some inventive costumes - but also in over £300 raised for charity through a charity raffle!
2009 was a truely brilliant and busy year for Aberdeen Universities' Royal Naval Unit and the above mentioned events are only a small fraction of what actually occured. Needless to say however the unit is looking forward to 2010 with anticipation.
